SOMETHING AWESOME!!!

I love using the word 'awesome'.   I say it and type it all the time.  But I have a feeling it applies to this.  The Sunday after Thanksgiving.....err......November 30, I will announce something both 'awesome' and fun.  Will you think so too?  I hope.  I will.  It will be interesting, to say the least.  So get ready.

Man, I need to get some blog traffic before then.

Thoughts...

This weekend, well it wasn't much of a weekend at all.  It didn't involve any sports or photography or the combination.  My fiance, Chelsea, and I drove up to Shreveport for a friend of our's wedding, Saturday morning.  Then we drove back Sunday.  This may not seem too bad, but we make this trip, it seems, 2-3 times a month.  That's 24 driving hours a month.  Anyway, we discussed wedding plans and saw old friends which is always good.  It was a fun but tiring weekend.  Sometime in the middle of this, a thought popped into my head of how I want to start blogging. I know I talk about blogging more all the time, but this time I really liked the thought.  I want to do more photo essay's and the thoughts that go behind the photos.  Of course there will still be just the photo collages of the Seniors and portraits, but I want there to be more.  Like I have decided to do a retrospective, after the college football bowl season, of my new found love of sports photography and the thoughts I had going into the season.  I want to start taking more 'art' photos and photos for fun and discussing why I took it or what I was feeling.  I may even post about the new music I am listening to.  This blog will never be about my personal views on world events or people or anything like that.  There is a time and place for all that, and it will never be here.  Hopefully you will never read anything on here to disagree with or make you judge my views in any way.  I want this to be a place where all people can be comfortable visiting.  Now, if you don't like football or football photos, we may have a problem.  Jokes!  Lots of people don't like football and that's fine.....I guess, lol.  Anyway, that's a sign of things to come.  I am going to Hillsboro, TX Wed. - Sat. for the annual family gathering that is Thanksgiving.  This trip, last year, produced two of my all time favorite photos.  So you can bet I'll be gunning for some greatness this week.  Again, thanks so much for reading and stopping by.  This, I think, will get so much better from here on out.

Ebay Link to the Right -->

Hey guys, I added an Ebay link to my blog.  Is that shallow and lame for me to do?  I dunno, you decide.  For the most part, that link is used for my geek personality, and selling baseball cards.  However, I do throw some one of a kind prints up there from time to time and various other art pieces that myself or friends have put together.  I will post each time I add something new.  So be on the lookout for that.  Maybe you can pick up something for someone during the holidays....hint hint.  Ha.  Everyone take care.

Tis the Season for Engagements

Nothing says Happy Holidays like a fancy set of Engagement pictures right?  Well, that sounded better in my head.  But I am now accepting Engagement session bookings.  So if you are newly engaged or know someone who is, drop me a line!

Pricing Update

Senior Portraits will remain at $175.00.  I had mentioned that this is only until the end of the year, but I have decided to just keep it for good.

Quantum of Solace

Things are a little slow on the blogging front right now.  I shot the LSU vs Alabama game last weekend and I'm still trying to get the whole 'Media Wire' thing down pat.  But there is something, out of my hands, that is awesome happening this weekend.....James Bond:  Quantum of Solace.  Man, I can't wait for this.  Every boy from the 80's grew up (for the most part) loving one of 3 movie series:  Indiana Jones, Star Wars or James Bond.  I was definitely the Bond type.  The dude is just too cool with all of his awesome gadgets and super smooth attitude.  Quantum of Solace looks to be a definite winner, in my book.  Go out and see it this Friday.  Should be worth the, now, 9 bucks (man! 9 bucks?!?  what happened here?).

Follow the red arrow: Well I made it in the national spotlight! It was an incredible experience Saturday night. One I won't soon forget. As always, click on the photo to enlarge. Photo from the Baton Rouge Advocate.

LSU vs Alabama/Senior Portraits

I'm very excited about the game tomorrow.  One, because it's a rediculously huge game.  And two, because I'll be on the sideline.  Geaux Tigers!  The return of Nick Saban should make for an atmosphere like I've never experienced in my years growing up here.  I can't wait.  After Saturday, it's back to the Senior Portrait trail.  I have two to shoot Sunday, so I hope to have those blogged soon.  They should turn out awesome.  With that said, I'm still trying to get word out so I can get more Senior Portraits booked.  So, if you are a senior or know a senior, check out my site and shoot me an email.

Huge Day - Couple Reasons

This is a very significant day, for a couple reasons to me.  Obviously this is the biggest election our nation has ever had.  I won't get into politics on here.  This is definitely not the place.  So go vote!  Choose wisely.

With that said, this is a major announcement for me.  I know I will stomp on some Ruston toes today, and that's not what I'm trying to do.  There are A LOT of Tech fans that will never see eye to eye with me on this, but I do A LOT of things for Tech, so I think that warrants me to do other things of interest as well.

I went to Louisiana Tech University.  I love Louisiana Tech.  I worked in the athletic department and would do anything for them.  On the flip side, I was born and raised a huge LSU Tiger fan.  It was told to me this morning, that I have media clearance to shoot the LSU/Alabama game this weekend from the sideline.  You may not think this is a big deal.  But let's look at it a couple ways.  I will be standing just feet away from the biggest game in recent LSU history.  I am a huge fan.  And, if you are an LSU fan as well, can you imagine what it is going to be like come Saturday, sold out crowd, Alabama ranked #1, and the return of Nick Saban?  I think you can imagine that very well.  It's going to be awesome.  I'm, hopefully, going to get some super sick pictures.  I'm very very excited.  I can't wait.

TODAY IS THE DAY! This blog is not intended to show my views on politics or persuade anyone else. But it is your right, no matter who you choose, to go vote. Don't let your voice go unheard.

Christi Martin - Photographer

It's time for me to shamelessly plug another photographer on my own blog.  This time, it's my former 'assistant', I hate to use that term.  More like, mine and Chelsea's good friend, and great photographer.....Christi Martin.  Christi helped me through all the weddings I had to do this last year and is an enormous talent.  It's time for her to be thrust into the mainstream in North Louisiana and have her work be seen by all.  She has a new site up, it's www.christimartin.com.  I think she is a true talent, and will have nothing but success. I personally vouch for her, and highly recommend stopping by her site often.  Every shoot is something awesome.
